Handled Landscapes
I start by grabbing and pulling chunks of local clay up and around rectangular forms. I then fire the clay at my campsite. The objects start as empty frames of touch, recording the clawing of my hands. I carry them with me and slowly find and make landscapes within them through casting parts of my body used for touching and sensing (tongue, fingers) and assembling found materials (skin-like shells, volcanic glass, sand). They feel like smears of landscapes on the wall.
